Before you begin using a medication, be sure to inform your doctor of any medical conditions or Allergies you may have, any medications you are taking, whether you are pregnant or breast-feeding, and any other significant facts about your health. These factors may affect how you should use Ibrance (Palbociclib).

Anemia: Ibrance (Palbociclib) may cause low levels of red blood cells. If you experience symptoms of reduced red blood cell count (anemia) such as shortness of breath, feeling unusually tired or pale skin, contact your doctor as soon as possible.

Your doctor will do blood tests regularly to monitor the number of specific types of blood cells, including red blood cells, in your blood.

Drowsiness/dizziness: Ibrance (Palbociclib) may cause drowsiness or dizziness, affecting your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing other potentially hazardous tasks until you have determined how Ibrance (Palbociclib) affects you.

Fruit/fruit juice: Certain fruits or their juices may change the amount of Ibrance (Palbociclib) in your body. Do not consume grapefruit, grapefruit juice, starfruit, pomegranate, or Seville oranges while taking Ibrance (Palbociclib).

Infection: As well as killing cancer cells, Ibrance (Palbociclib) can reduce the number of cells that fight infection in the body (white blood cells). If possible, avoid contact with people with contagious infections. Tell your doctor immediately if you notice signs of an infection, such as fever or chills, severe diarrhea, shortness of breath, prolonged dizziness, headache, stiff neck, weight loss, or listlessness. Your doctor will do blood tests regularly to monitor the number of specific types of blood cells in your blood.

Liver function: If you have liver problems, discuss with your doctor how Ibrance (Palbociclib) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Ibrance (Palbociclib), and whether any special monitoring is needed. Your doctor may want to test your liver function regularly with blood tests while you are taking Ibrance (Palbociclib).

Lung inflammation: Rarely, some people taking Ibrance (Palbociclib) have experienced lung inflammation (interstitial lung disease), causing difficulty breathing. This problem can be severe and life-threatening. If you experience new or worsening shortness of breath or cough (with or without fever) at any time while you are taking Ibrance (Palbociclib), contact your doctor immediately.

Male fertility: Ibrance (Palbociclib) may impair male fertility. Men should consider sperm preservation prior to starting treatment with Ibrance (Palbociclib). Men whose partners could become pregnant should use effective birth control during treatment and for at least 97 days after the last dose of Ibrance (Palbociclib).

Pregnancy: Ibrance (Palbociclib) should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you become pregnant while taking Ibrance (Palbociclib), contact your doctor immediately. If you are able to become pregnant, you should use effective birth control while you are taking Ibrance (Palbociclib) and for at least 21 days after stopping the medication. Men taking Ibrance (Palbociclib) whose partners could become pregnant should use effective birth control during treatment and for at least 97 days after the last dose of Ibrance (Palbociclib).

Breast-feeding: It is not known if Ibrance (Palbociclib) passes into breast milk. If you are breast-feeding and are taking Ibrance (Palbociclib), it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breast-feeding.

Children: The safety and effectiveness of using Ibrance (Palbociclib) have not been established for children.
