The recommended starting dose of Vimpat (Lacosamide) is 50 mg twice daily for 1 week. The dose is then increased to 100 mg twice daily during the second week. Depending on your response, your doctor may increase the dose of the medication to 150 mg twice daily during the third week, and 200 mg twice daily during the fourth week. Do not stop taking Vimpat (Lacosamide) or any other seizure medications unless your health care provider advises you to.
Vimpat (Lacosamide) can be taken with plenty of water, with or without food. Swallow the tablets whole - do not crush or chew the tablets.
Many things can affect the dose of a medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.
It is important to take Vimpat (Lacosamide) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule.
