Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) belongs to the family of medications called antispasmodics. Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) is used to treat symptoms associated with an Overactive Bladder, such as urinary urgency (a need to urinate right away), urinary frequency (having to urinate more often than usual), or urge incontinence (leaking or wetting caused by an unstoppable urge to urinate).

The usual starting dose of Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) is 25 mg once daily. Your doctor may increase the dose to a maximum of 50 mg once daily, if necessary to control symptoms. Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) may be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with some water. Do not chew, crush, or divide the tablet.
Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are using the medication without consulting your doctor.
It is important to take Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. If you miss several doses, talk to your doctor. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Store Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) at room temperature and keep it out of reach of children.
Do not dispose of medications in wastewater (e.g. down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.
Many medications can cause side effects. A side effect is an unwanted response to a medication when it is taken in normal doses. Side effects can be mild or severe, temporary or permanent.

The following side effects have been reported by at least 1% of people taking Myrbetriq (Mirabegron). Many of these side effects can be managed, and some may go away on their own over time.

Each oval, brown, film-coated, extended-release tablet debossed with "325" and the Astellas logo, contains 25 mg Myrbetriq (Mirabegron). Non-medicinal ingredients: polyethylene oxide, polyethylene glycol, hydroxypropyl cellulose, butylated hydroxytoluene, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, yellow ferric oxide, and red ferric oxide.
50 mg
Each oval, yellow, film-coated, extended-release tablet debossed with "355" and the Astellas logo, contains 50 mg Myrbetriq (Mirabegron). Non-medicinal ingredients: polyethylene oxide, polyethylene glycol, hydroxypropyl cellulose, butylated hydroxytoluene, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, and yellow ferric oxide.

Medications other than those listed above may interact with Myrbetriq (Mirabegron). Tell your doctor or prescriber about all prescription, over-the-counter (non-prescription), and herbal medications you are taking. Also tell them about any supplements you take. Since caffeine, alcohol, the Nicotine from cigarettes, or street drugs can affect the action of many medications, you should let your prescriber know if you use them.
Before you begin taking a medication, be sure to inform your doctor of any medical conditions or Allergies you may have, any medications you are taking, whether you are pregnant or breast-feeding, and any other significant facts about your health. These factors may affect how you should take Myrbetriq (Mirabegron).
Abnormal heart rhythms: Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) can cause abnormal heart rhythms. Certain medications (e.g., Sotalol, quinidine, thioridazine, Chlorpromazine, Pimozide, moxifloxacin, Mefloquine, pentamidine, arsenic trioxide, probucol, Tacrolimus) can increase the risk of a type of abnormal heart rhythm called QT prolongation, and should not be used in combination with Myrbetriq (Mirabegron). You are more at risk for this type of abnormal heart rhythm and its complications if you:

Bladder obstruction: If you have bladder obstruction (blockage) or are taking any other medications, such as anticholinergics, for the treatment of overactive bladder, discuss with your doctor how Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Myrbetriq (Mirabegron), and whether any special monitoring is needed.
Glaucoma: If you have glaucoma, discuss with your doctor how Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) may affect your medical condition, and how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Myrbetriq (Mirabegron). Your doctor should perform regular eye exams while you are taking Myrbetriq (Mirabegron).
Heart conditions: Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) may cause increased blood pressure, or an increased heart rate. If you have a history of high blood pressure or heart disease, discuss with your doctor how Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Myrbetriq (Mirabegron), and whether any special monitoring is needed.
Kidney function: Kidney Disease or decreased kidney function may cause Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) to build up in the body, causing side effects. If you have reduced kidney function, discuss with your doctor how Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) may affect your medical condition, how your medical condition may affect the dosing and effectiveness of Myrbetriq (Mirabegron), and whether any special monitoring is needed.
Liver function: Liver disease or decreased liver function may cause Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) to build up in the body, causing side effects. Pregnancy: Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you become pregnant while taking Myrbetriq (Mirabegron), contact your doctor immediately.
Breast-feeding: It is not known if Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) passes into breast milk. If you are a breast-feeding mother and are taking Myrbetriq (Mirabegron), it may affect your baby. Talk to your doctor about whether you should continue breast-feeding.
Children: The safety and effectiveness of using Myrbetriq (Mirabegron) have not been established for children under the age of 18.
