Tarceva (Erlotinib) is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It is used to treat locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell Lung Cancer for people in whom at least one other type of chemotherapy treatment has been unsuccessful or in cases where the lung cancer activates epidermal growth factor.

The recommended daily dose of Tarceva (Erlotinib) is 150 mg taken once daily with a glass of plain water. Take Tarceva (Erlotinib) at least 1 hour before you eat, or at least 2 hours after you eat.
Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.
Your doctor may want you to drink extra fluids while taking Tarceva (Erlotinib) in order to help you pass more fluid and protect your kidneys.
It is important to take Tarceva (Erlotinib) exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Store Tarceva (Erlotinib) at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.
