Based on the results of laboratory tests to determine the amount of thyroid hormone in your blood, your doctor will increase your dose of Cytomel (Liothyronine) gradually, every 1 to 2 weeks until an appropriate level of thyroid hormone is available in the bloodstream. The starting dose of Cytomel (Liothyronine) for children when treating hypothyroidism is 5 µg daily, which will be increased every 3 to 4 days until an appropriate response occurs.
